Apply now for Fellowship Exam in November

Would you like to have the prestigious title ‘Fellow of IACLE’ and add more letters after your name? Then why not apply for the next administration of the IACLE Fellowship Exam which will take place in November 2019. Registration is now available via our website along with full details.

This year’s administration will be the first for which the New Distance Learning Program (DLP) is available to candidates to prepare for the exam. The DLP was fully updated in 2018 by our Education Team, in line with the New IACLE Contact Lens Course. Both are available online exclusively to IACLE members via Member Login.

All IACLE members are eligible to sit the exam. Members who achieve a successful outcome in the exam can then apply for Fellow of IACLE (FIACLE) status. New members must hold membership for at least 12 months before applying for FIACLE. IACLE will award those applicants with a successful outcome, who meet our Fellowship criteria, the prestigious FIACLE title.

Existing FIACLEs can also re-sit the Fellowship Exam as many times as they wish – free of charge – to refresh their knowledge and keep abreast of the latest contact lens developments.

The Fellowship Exam will take place on Saturday 16th November 2019. Exam locations will be announced closer to the date. All candidates will sit a written exam. Core languages are English, Simplified Chinese, Spanish, Korean, and Bahasa; if 12 or more members request the exam in another language we will endeavor to provide it. The next administration will be in 2021.

Here’s what new FIACLEs say about achieving Fellowship…

‘Achieving FIACLE status has been a dream come true and a matter of pride in both my professional and personal life, as I share a platform with eminent educators across the globe. It has boosted my self-confidence and given me recognition for all the efforts I’ve put in to imparting knowledge. I hope I inspire many to take up Fellowship, just as I’ve been inspired by colleagues who have been FIACLEs before me.’

FIACLE Anitha Arvind, Sankara College of Optometry, India

‘After the academic years, there are few available ways to keep graduates upgraded to high levels. Although practice is very important, it doesn’t allow us to experience all critical cases, especially in countries where optometry and contact lens fitting are not officially that recognized. FIACLE is a ‘must do’ exam for all contact lens educators, at least in the academic field. I‘m very proud to have finally realized my dream and I would like to encourage all my colleagues to follow my experience. Thank you very much IACLE!’

FIACLE Mohamad Ali Hamadé, Lebanese University, Beirut

I’m very proud to be part of the FIACLE community and I feel more valued and invested in the world of contactology. Fellowship allows us to demonstrate our knowledge in this field – especially to ophthalmologists – but also our desire to participate in the mission of IACLE in an active way, trying to standardize the teaching of contact lenses in France and more broadly in the world. Becoming a FIACLE should make things easier, by reassuring ophthalmologists that they can delegate more easily.’

FIACLE Arnaud Massenet, Aix-Marseille Université, France
