Fellowship Exam based on new programs

IACLE holds first Fellowship Exam based on new programs

The International Association of Contact Lens Educators will hold its Fellowship Exam in November. This year will be the first administration for which the New Distance Learning Program (DLP) is available to candidates to prepare for the exam.

The New DLP – an online self-study program – was launched in September 2018 to align with the fully revised and updated New IACLE Contact Lens Course.

All IACLE members are eligible to sit the exam, which will take place on 16 November 2019. Candidates who achieve a successful outcome and have been members for at least 12 months can apply for Fellow of IACLE status. Those who meet the Fellowship criteria can use the prestigious FIACLE title.

Existing FIACLEs can also re-sit the Fellowship Exam as many times as they wish – free of charge – to refresh their knowledge and keep abreast of the latest developments.

The deadline for applications is 30 June 2019. The next Fellowship Exam will be in 2021.

Here’s what new FIACLEs say about achieving Fellowship…

‘Achieving FIACLE status has been a dream come true and a matter of pride in both my professional and personal life, as I share a platform with eminent educators across the globe. It has boosted my self-confidence and given me recognition for all the efforts I’ve put in to imparting knowledge. I hope I inspire many to take up Fellowship, just as I’ve been inspired by colleagues who have been FIACLEs before me.’

FIACLE Anitha Arvind, Sankara College of Optometry, India

‘After the academic years, there are few available ways to keep graduates upgraded to high levels. Although practice is very important, it doesn’t allow us to experience all critical cases, especially in countries where optometry and contact lens fitting are not officially that recognized. FIACLE is a ‘must do’ exam for all contact lens educators, at least in the academic field. I‘m very proud to have finally realized my dream and I would like to encourage all my colleagues to follow my experience. Thank you very much IACLE!’

FIACLE Mohamad Ali Hamadé, Lebanese University, Beirut

I’m very proud to be part of the FIACLE community and I feel more valued and invested in the world of contactology. Fellowship allows us to demonstrate our knowledge in this field – especially to ophthalmologists – but also our desire to participate in the mission of IACLE in an active way, trying to standardize the teaching of contact lenses in France and more broadly in the world. Becoming a FIACLE should make things easier, by reassuring ophthalmologists that they can delegate more easily.’

FIACLE Arnaud Massenet, Aix-Marseille Université, France
