Special Notice – CORE Knowledge at the AAO
Opportunity for IACLE members to contribute to the newest edition of CORE Knowledge at the AAO
Dear IACLE Members,
We have a fun opportunity to take part in the American Academy of Optometry’s Centennial Celebration in San Diego this fall. The Centre for Ocular Research & Education (CORE) has teamed up with Academy to unveil and play the newest edition of CORE Knowledge – a multiple choice eye science trivia game – at the October meeting.
IACLE has been invited to contribute a series of eye-related questions that will be included during live play in the CORE booth. Questions may include optometry research, history, anatomy, etc. Played around the world since it debuted at ARVO in 2018, you can check out the current CORE Knowledge version here.
If you would like to submit a question (or more than one – there’s no limit), please use the Excel document to provide both the question and potential answers. A new optional feature allows a single image to accompany a question.
Sample questions include:
A patient has keratometry of 7.80 al 180 x 8.00 al 90@ spectacle prescription of -4.25DS. Which soft lens is the most appropriate?
A) Spherical lens
B) Back surface toric
C) Any kind of toric lens
D) Front surface toric
How much is the rate of tear evaporation estimated to increase if there is a non-confluent lipid layer in the tear film?
